JB Sport Mats was started by 6 former and current puck heads. The concept for the skate dri mat was kicked around for years while we all played competitive hockey. How do we keep our socks from getting wet and our skate blades from getting nicked up while getting ready to chase that puck around the rink?
The Challenge
We all tried the towel on the floor but that always seemed to absorb water which led to wet socks and cold feet even before we hit the ice. Next came the piece of carpet, it worked for a while but it was soon absorbing water. It eventually would begin to mold and breakdown. Soon you had moldy carpet pieces all over your bag. Which lead us back to using a towel, a jersey or your hockey bag.
Born from Hockey
We began discussing how we could create a hockey mat that would not absorb water, is made out of antimicrobial material, would stand up to wear and tear, and easily fit into your hockey bag. The wheels began to churn. After research and development, the revolutionary idea that would change the way you lace up your skates was born.
